Valve has been putting Dota 2 through its closed beta paces, and it appears they are ready to take on some more recruits.
“We’ve just finished our first significant expansion of Dota 2 server capacity around the world, and that means it’s time to kick this thing up a notch. Starting this week, we’ll be handing out Dota 2 in increasing volumes. To celebrate, we’re releasing the first part of the official Dota 2 comic, Tales from the Secret Shop,” announced the Dota 2 team over on their blog.
You can check out the ‘Tales from the Secret Shop’ comic here; but before you do that, read on to find out about getting yourself into the Dota 2 beta.

Valve is running a survey to assess potential Dota 2 beta participants, which includes scoping out your hardware and then filling out a short questionnaire. Valve is looking for a wide spread of hardware in order to test the game, so don’t be too ashamed of your Celeron laptop – it may just get you into the beta.
To launch the survey, open up Steam, and click this link: steam://takesurvey/1/
If you have been running Steam for a few days, you may need to close it, open it, and let it update before trying again.
Windows users: if that’s not working for you, open Steam, copy that link into a Run dialog box, and hit enter.
Mac users: I have no idea what the equivalent operation would be because I’m not a hipster.

In the survey you will be asked such soul-searching questions as ‘How much average gold do you accumulate during a game of Dota?’, ‘What is your average level at the end of the match?’, and ‘On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate you Dota expertise?’.
I already chose 10 on that one, so the rest of you nooblets can pick from 9 downwards.
If you are selected, you will receive two extra copies of Dota 2 beta access that you can give to whomever you like.
You’ll find the extra copies in the Steam section of your Steam account’s item inventory, and you can use the Steam Trading feature to give them to your friends.
Be sure to let the MyGaming community know if you are selected so we can get a pool of local gamers going.
Join the MyGaming Steam group to make connecting with the community that much easier.
