After four or five years of development, Infamous Adventures has finally released its remake of Sierra’s critically-acclaimed 1987 documentary about deep-space toilets and the brave men who clean them – Space Quest II: Vohaul’s Revenge.
The game, originally created with Sierra’s own 16-colour EGA, text parser-powered AGI engine, has been remade using Adventure Game Studio, in the 256-colour VGA, point-and-click style of Sierra’s later games, including Space Quest IV onwards. Or, as the trailer puts it, “An adventure, much like you’ve seen before, merely redone, redrawn, and reprogrammed to the exacting specifications of the Year of the Dragon, 1992.”
The remake also features over 4000 lines of recorded dialogue, and something portentously described as “a whole lot of extras and fun” that may or may not be a visit from a Labion Terror Beast in heat.
You can download the game (for free!) from the official Infamous Adventures site, although you might want to check those system specifications first – the minimum requirements are a 300 MHz CPU, 32 MB video card, and DX7.
