High profile gaming journalists form gaming journalism supergroup

4 January 2012

Brian Crecente, Justin and Griffin McElroy, Arthur Gies, and James Etherington-Smith. These are big names in the world of game journalism editing, and they’re now also big names in the hot new game journalism thing, Vox Games.

Except James, he’s still here at MyGaming – where we all love him, don’t we, Quinton? We do. [We do.]

Vox Games is the new gaming portal of Vox Media, the people behind tech news network The Verge. The team of ex-Kotaku and Joystiq journos is joined by former MTV Games editor, Russ Frushtick, former UGO Games editor, Chris Plante, and former Escapist editor, Russ Pitts.

It’s like Voltron, only it’s made of gaming editors and writers so I’m not sure it would be much good at defending the universe unless it was in a video game. Alternatively, it could be like Sephiroth’s Reunion, and all the parts of an alien being are being called together in one place to take over the world.

It’s not exactly clear for the moment what Vox Games is planning to do with its recently assembled team of superjournos, but in the meantime, you can follow @VoxGames on Twitter for up-to-the-second updates on what’s what.
