While Nivida’s focus as the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month was on Tegra mobile processors, one company spokesman had enough time for a quick jab at rival graphics card manufacturer AMD.
“Honestly, we expected more from our competitor’s new architecture,” said the spokesperson talking to Nordic Hardware’s Anton Karmehed.
Nvidia are obviously confident that their own high-end cards will overpower the AMD HD7970, and confirmed that the next generation Kepler cards are on track to meet the original launch date of late Q1/early Q2.
Even if it regains the performance crown however, Nvidia will have given AMD a head start of almost a full quarter, so performance might not be enough to secure Nvidia the majority of next generation market share.
Meanwhile, AMD is busy contemplating a witty response, which they’ll get to after they’ve found out where all of Bulldozer’s Windows 7 performance has gone.
