Team Fortress 2 gets Scout centric update

18 February 2009

Valve has announced that Team Fortress 2 will be getting an update that makes significant changes to the scout class.

The update is being planned for release next Tuesday, February 24. Valve has set up a dedicated website in celebration of the updates coming to the scout. Every week day leading up to the release, Valve will be announcing a new update.

The first and only (at time of publication) update revealed so far, is “The Sandyman”, a “highly collectible bat that smacks baseballs at the other team, stunning the living crap outta anybody dumb, slow, drunk, mute or Australian enough to get in the way.”

Unlike the conventional use of a baseball bat as a melee weapon in most first person shooters, “The Sandyman” will allow players to actually hit baseballs at their opponents. The further the ball flies, the longer the inflicted stun lasts.

When using The Sandyman however, players will not be able to make use of the scouts double jump ability.

Another announcement is due today, and we will update wit the new information as soon as it goes live.
