Rumor: Diablo III before Christmas?

9 March 2009

Blizzard’s continuation of its hack-and-slash legacy is at the top-end of almost every PC gamers’ wish list. Originally announced last year in June, the game has been in development since 2005. It therefore stands to reason that the full release should be out within the next 18 months.

Kaputik, a relatively small news site, is reporting that “Associates working on Diablo 3 game design have supplied the following information”

Multiplayer Beta trial version will release on September 11 2009.

Full release will come on December 24 2009.

System requirements:

CPU: 1.4GHz
Ram: 1GB
GFX: 128Mb video card Dx9
Hard Drive Space: 4 -8 GB

We were hesitant to publish this information, as the likelihood of Blizzard releasing such high profile news to a small unknown site is quite small, and it is therefore highly doubtful that there is any truth to these rumors.

However, Blizzard’s response (that is if they respond) may actually bear something worthwhile.

We predict something along the lines of “We are working very hard to ensure that Diablo 3 lives up to our fans expectations. We cannot confirm nor deny the truth of these rumors. We will however say that the information supplied did not in fact come from a source at Blizzard”.
