Guild Wars hits 6 million mark

24 April 2009

Guild Wars is easily one of the most popular online role-playing games available. It has won a number of awards since it was released in April 2005, and is one of the few serious MMORPGs that does not require a monthly subscription.

Last year in February, the developers NCSoft announced that the game has sold 5 million copies. Just over a year later, NCSoft just announced that the Guild Wars franchise has sold 6 million copies.  On April 28, Guild Wars will be celebrating its 4 year anniversary, making it one of the only big MMORPGs that has been able to remain profitable alongside Blizzard’s behemoth, World of Warcraft, for a significant length of time.
