Telkom’s network transformation is back on track, the incumbent telecommunications company said in a press statement issued today (23 May 2012).
This follows today’s decision by the North Gauteng High Court which granted Telkom leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal against an interdict which was brought by ZTE Mzansi in March 2012.
The granting of the original interdict effectively stalled the deployment of Telkom’s MSAN (Multi Service Access Node) project, which promised to bring high speed Internet services to residential users.
“We are pleased that we can now continue the implementation of our access network revamp,” said Bashier Sallie, managing director of wholesale & networks at Telkom.
Sallie said that this means Telkom will no longer face undue delays in the rollout of the project.
“The MSANs will enable quality high speed broadband access using VDSL, VDSL2+ and xPON which will enhance the broadband experience for our customers,” Sallie said.
