What is the point of the tri slot cooler on the Asus HD 7970 DirectCU II TOP. Seriously that is just to big for too little power. If overclockers are trying to go for Tri or Quad SLI surely they would not be able to fit the cards onto the board.
I understand that it’s about cooling but is that card’s cooling allowing the card to perform that much better than a very effective dual slot cooling solution. I seriously doubt it.
I suppose there must be a market though, otherwise they would not make it.
I know it’s just about squeezing that little bit more out of the chip so if you’re an overclocker with a board that could possibly fit more than two of these monsters you are going to get a card that does that little bit extra that may push your 3Dmark score just that bit higher.
