Shag a Gamer dating site launched

17 July 2012

In this week’s round of This Is Totally Not Going To Work For All The Obvious Reasons, UK dating site Date a Gamer has launched a new, more… uh… specialised Shag a Gamer initiative. The big idea is to bring gamers and geeks together for casual sexy times. Why do people’s interests even matter in the context of one-nighters? So this website can have a trendy gimmick, duh!

“Over the past few months we noticed that instead of looking for love, many of the members were using the site purely to meet up for sex – it’s not something we were expecting, but obviously gamers get urges too,” Date a Gamer boss Tom Thurlow told Eurogamer.

“It got us thinking that, perhaps by providing a platform where geeks and gamers over the age of 18 could arrange to meet up and get it on, we could help people who may feel uneasy in social situations, find someone and get some action. People were using the Date a Gamer site to meet up for sex anyway, but this way they have a space where they can do this more openly in an arena they are comfortable in, in other words, online.”

I thought that’s what Call of Duty multiplayer lobbies were for.

There’s also a local Shag a Gamer portal, promising “thousands of gamers”, and something described as “gamer sex” which I assume is the one where you press buttons in a particular order to win the game.

If any MyGaming reader has the guts to sign up for this, let us know how it goes.
