Infinity Ward has released an updated requirements list. Apparently the game will require the following to run:
OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
DirectX: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Internet: Broadband connection required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet Connection required for activation

The PC version of Infinity Ward’s soon to be released first person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been the focus of recent media attention for all the wrong reasons.
First the publisher announced a global price hike on the game, which has resulted in it now retailing for R499 as opposed to the previously announced R399. Then, just recently, it was revealed that the PC version would not feature support for dedicated online multiplayer servers.
Infinity Ward has released the system specifications for the game today. Gamers running older PCs will be pleased to learn that Modern Warfare 2 will not require a high-end rig to run.
System requirements
Hard Drive Space: 16 GB free hard drive space
Operating System: Windows Vista/XP
Processor: AMD 64 3200+ or Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz or better
RAM: 512 MB RAM (XP) / 1 GB RAM (VISTA)
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256 MB nVidia GeForce 6600GT / ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
Although the game will require a massive 16 GB of installation space, it will not require high-end core components, such as CPU and graphics card. Furthermore, XP users will be able to play with just 512MB of RAM.
It remains to be seen if these are overly optimistic minimum requirements, and it is doubtful that they will be able to deliver reasonable frame rates. Infinity Ward did not provide the recommended system requirements, but it is assumed that in order to achieve decent frame rates players would at least need a mid-range dual core CPU, 2GB of RAM and something along the lines of a 7900GT.
