Download Battlefield 1942 for free

6 November 2012

EA is currently celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Battlefield franchise, and as part of the scheduled festivities, offering a nostalgic present for dedicated fans.

The publisher is giving away Battlefield 1942 for freebies, giving gamers the WWII combat classic that kicked off the madly popular man-shooting multiplayer phenomenon.

“We wanted to thank our fans who have supported us throughout the years with a chance to go back and play the game that started it all,” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Vice President and General Manager of DICE.

To get it, you’ll need an Origin account and the Origin download client, also both free.

Whether the offer is permanent or temporary is unknown, so get going and download it now.
