Wasteland 2 first gameplay footage revealed

inXile Entertainment has posted up their first gameplay footage of Wasteland 2, the Kickstarter fan-funded sequel to a cult classic turn-based strategy game set in a nuclear post-apocalypse.

The development is lead by Brian Fargo, a legend in his own right, having been involved in games such as The Bard’s Tale, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Battle Chess, Castles, the original Wasteland and its spiritual successor, Fallout.

All of the game-play footage was captured directly from Unity. With the exception of the not implemented yet Mini Map and some placeholder sounds and portraits, this demo shows you what you can expect to see in Wasteland 2.

The first part of the video is a collection of some of the radio broadcasts from our favorite cults of the Wasteland. After that Development Director Chris Keenan will give you a tour of the Agricultural Center and show off some of the features of the game including the combat system, the HUD, the skill system, and the keyword dialog system.

This is a straight video capture of Development Director Chris Keenan playing the game. The only element that is not running in code is the sound effects, as it was faster to do in post, but as you will hear, there is nothing being done audio wise that isn’t easily replicated in engine. In fact, we plan to have many more sound effects in the final game than what is heard here.
