Valve announces free Team Fortress 2 weekend

17 December 2009

To celebrate the Soldier and Demoman class updates arriving today, Valve has magnanimously declared a Team Fortress 2 free-for-all for the entire weekend.

This is your chance to show your friends that Counter-Strike is rubbish, and Team Fortress 2 is awesome. And remember – just because everybody says the Pyro is a noob class doesn’t mean the Pyro isn’t (obviously) the best class anyway.

Players can preload the entire game through Steam, or bandwidth-challenged sadsacks can simply wait until their friends download it first and copy the relevant game folders from them instead.

Team Fortress 2, which was initially released as part of Valve’s Orange Box in 2007, is a popular online first person multiplayer shooter. It is currently available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC as a download from Valve’s digital Steam service.
