Week 2 of the MyGaming Sunday Evening Cup Series, powered by PolarfluKe, has wrapped up. The competition is heating up as we draw closer to the half way mark of this tournament.

More teams are welcome to enter, as the structure of the tournament means everyone has a chance in the opening weeks to make it into the final round and take a shot at the prize pot of R2,000.

This post-event report is provided by resident PolarfluKe shoutcaster Kyle Wolmerans (aka Congo):

In the wake of a successful and exciting week 1 of the MyGaming Sunday Evening Cup Series it was no surprise that teams, and viewers, came prepared for anything… or so they thought!

Round one kicked off with Energy ESports stamping out new comers nAv|SGD in a timely fashion, showing once again their superior teamwork is unrivalled. Another new team, auRa, gave Bravado Gaming a run for their money with early game dominance but the veteran titans pulled it all together to take their first game ready to meet their rivals, ROCC, in round two. Last week’s big story, MfB managed to run down 3D advancing to Round two with Phat FaRm and Veneration Esports also advancing from round one.

Following MfB’s success in last week’s bracket  all eyes were on them as they met giants iM’Basher in round two. The pressure seemed too much and Basher sent them down to the loser bracket with memories of past triumphs. Energy ESports continued their beyond godlike streak defeating Phat FaRm while Bravado rode their momentum not braking for ROCC who ended up being collateral damage in Bravado’s road to victory. Veneration ESports remained on form defeating OiB in their round 2 matchup. The semi-finals were set and nobody was ready for what happened next.

A little back story is needed here. In last week’s semi-final, Energy ESports vs. Basher, Energy pulled off a level one Roshan and sent their solo-mid into lane five levels ahead of his opponent. This week Basher were ready for another level one Roshan but were instead roped into an Energy trap losing four heroes to a “fake Roshan” attempt by Energy. Needless to say the carnage continued and Basher were knocked out once again scratching their heads. In the other semi-final Bravado Gaming were able to overpower Veneration ESports, who have showed a lot of promise in the past few weeks.

The final was set. Bravado vs. Energy Esports. A game everyone had been waiting for. In the opinion of my cocaster, Hari, “This game will decide who is the current top team in South Africa”. The game was tight, too tight actually, with Bravado just being able to out play Energy in a few tight team fights thus taking the game and ending as this week’s winners of the Sunday Evening Cup Series.

The team standings as of week 2:

Position Team Name Wins Losses Points
1 Bravado Gaming 4 0 8
2 Energy eSports 3 1 6
3 Team Immersion 1 1 4
3 Veneration Esports 2 1 4
5 Matt’s FUN Buddies 1 1 2
5 Phat FaRm 1 1 2
5 ROCC Dota2 1 1 2
5 Outlook is Bleak(OiB) 1 1 2
5 StarGate-Dota 2 1 2
10 3D 1 1 1
