Reports have surfaced that a 15 year old Romanian boy has killed his adoptive mother after she refused to pay household internet bills.
Ionut Silviu Savin, who All About the Games stated was known to be dependent on gaming, stabbed his mother 17 times and then left the house to play Counter Strike at a nearby internet cafe.
Police later discovered that after stabbing his mother, Savin took all the money he could find in the house and played the popular online first person shooter for four hours. The woman’s body was discovered by her husband after returning home from work. Later Savin turned himself in to police saying “I think I’m the one you’re looking for.”
It has been suggested that the boy’s frustrated mother opted not to pay internet fees as a method to reduce time spent by her son playing video games.
The “quiet” and “introverted” Savin is reportedly addicted to gaming and the internet – a habit which led him to miss two hundred days of school in 2009.
