Left 4 Dead 2 update will feature more bots

26 January 2010

Developer Valve yesterday outlined further details for a new Left 4 Dead 2 update which is due to be released for PC and Xbox 360.

Described as “a few weeks out” in a recent blog post the changes will include the addition of computer controlled bots for the Infected in Versus mode intended to help the team “when they are down a man or two” and should make the gameplay “a bit more fun.”

“We’ve also been experimenting with a solution for auto-spawning in Versus finales” revealed Valve, this might include removing auto spawn altogether. Before this can happen however the team must measure how this will affect the gameplay balance – which currently gives the survivors a 34.56% chance of finishing the finale.

“Remove the Concert Finale, and we see the average drop to 29.61%. With these figures in mind, when we make changes, we can measure the difference and see how much the change impacted the balance.”

Valve also noted that work on “The Passing”, the game’s first downloadable add on, is currently underway.
