Blizzard’s long-in-development MMO, codenamed Titan, is said to be getting re-evaluation and may not see the light of day until at least 2016.
The reason for the delay is due to a complete overhaul of the ambitious project and a reshuffling of the development team – which saw the staff of 100 reduced to 30.
“We’ve always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO [Titan] is no exception,” said a Blizzard rep.
“We’ve come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. We’re using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these changes.”
Not much is known about the project, although it’s been in and out of headlines since 2007, after Blizzard published a series of job listings for “Top Secret”, “Next-Gen MMO”, later confirming that it was not a new World of WarCraft expansion, or a sequel to that game.
