Big Prizes confirmed for SA’s first HON LAN tournament

25 February 2010

Last month we reported that SA’s first Heroes of Newerth LAN Tournament had been announced.

The tournament is being hosted by the Wits Wargames Club as well as Mind Sports South Africa, and is being “powered” by The Lair and Mayhem. The tournament is being sponsored by S2 Games, iGame and ASUS.

The tournament will take place on March 13 2010 at the Old Mutual Sports Hall on the Wits University Campus, and kicks off at 9AM.

The LAN tournament is a groundbreaking event as it will allow South African gamers and teams to compete online and at a LAN event simultaneously for the first time ever. This means that each team need have only 1 player present at the actual event, while the rest may be playing remotely via an internet connection.

The Lair’s registration page states that there are still 16 open slots, and each player must pay R50 to register. The proceeds will be used to improve the Wits Wargames Club and to contribute towards a bursary for electronic sports and club room equipment

The following prizes have been confirmed for the winning teams:

1st place

$300 cash prize courtesy of S2 Games, 5 pre-paid HON accounts and 5 ASUS gift bags.

2nd place

5 Roccat Kova Mice and 5 Roccat Sense Mousepads courtesy of iGame

3rd Place

5 ASUS tool kits

In addition to these Prizes, iGame will run a special pre-event competition via its forums: up for grabs is one Intel Core i3 530 CPU, 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM and one Gigabyte H55M S2H Intel P55 Chipset Motherboard. All going to one lucky HoN player.
