id Software have for the past year or so maintained that their upcoming shooter RAGE will be released “when it’s fun and when it’s done.” The game’s publisher, Bethesda, however, feels differently, and has revealed at least that it will be out sometime in 2011.
RAGE will be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and all three versions are expected to hit shelves at the same time.
Not the most original title (if you search “rage” in Wikipedia, you will find a band, album, UK dance act, collectible card game, regular card game, a super hero, TV show, two novels and two movies. Oh, and a rollercoaster), RAGE promises to offer an interesting combination of first-person shooter and racing game.
International gaming journalists (spit!) have already had hands-on experience with the game (spit!), and word has it that it is one of the best looking titles ever made. “The game itself looked gorgeous, the outdoor scenes in particular, to the point where I had a hard time believing it was running on a console,” said Shacknews’ Nick Breckon.
