With the relationship between Incredible Connection and Mind Sports South Africa turning out to be a rather short-lived affair, ASUS South Africa has gotten behind the official governing body of e-sports in SA.
According to DoGaming, the MSSA and ASUS have been working on setting up the partnership over the past two months, and have settled on a deal that will see ASUS put up R45,000, and in exchange, be made the official sponsor of the 2010 MSSA interschool league, as well as the MSSA’s provincial an national championships.
The MSSA is currently focusing on getting an interschool league up and running. The following schools are already involved:
• Bryanston High School
• St John’s College
• Harriston College
• Eden Glen High School
• Pretoria Boys High School
• Potchefstroom High School for Boys
• Verits College
• Maritzburg Christian School
• Paul Roos Gymnasium
• Northcliff High School
• Kyalami High School
• Beaulieu College
• Sutherland High School
• Willowridge High School
• Marais Viljoen High School
• Wartburg College
• Vryburg High School
• Paul Pietersburg High School
• Hoerskool Uitsig
• Glenwood High
• Crawford College
• Benoni High
MSSA remains unpopular with a large portion of South Africa’s competitive gamers, making them an interesting choice for ASUS to partner with. “Many have tried to work with the MSSA and have said it hasn’t worked, we know. But we are going to make it work – we want to help pull the community together,” says ASUStek marketing manager Gabriel Malan.
