FNB PS4 launch window

5 December 2013

Kartik Mistry, Head of Smart Device, FNB Core Banking Solutions has confirmed to MyGaming that the PS4 will be available to purchase through the banking provider’s Smart Devices programme around the time of launch on 13 December 2013.

“As with the inclusion of gaming consoles into the Smart Device mix, and iTunes to the Banking App, FNB is constantly looking to enhance the customer’s experience and relationship, embracing a wider digital lifestyle enabler,” said Mistry.

“FNB aims to launch the PS4 as part of its smart device offer at around the same time as the SA launch on 13 December 2013,” said Mistry, adding that there will be limited stock available and delivery before Christmas not guaranteed.

Ster Kinekor Entertainment, distributor of Sony Computer Entertainment products, has previously confirmed that the PlayStation 4 carries a launch date of 13 December 2013 in South Africa, with an RRP of R6,299 for the standard package (PS4 console + 1 DualShock 4 remote). Ster Kinekor has also confirmed PS4 bundles, games, and peripherals pricing.

As previously reported, FNB now lets qualifying clients finance up to four devices through its smart device promotion, although there is a limit of one iPhone per customer.

It remains to be seen how the PS4 will be approached in this regard, as Mistry previously said that the new four device limit applies only to the products FNB currently lists online, and not necessarily to future products.
