Fallout games free on GOG

12 December 2013

For the first 48-hours of its Winter Promo, GOG.com is offering Fallout1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics free for PC and Mac.

Following the legal battle between ZeniMax (Bethesda’s parent company) and Interplay (original Fallout games publisher), the rights to the Fallout franchise – future production and existing title sale – will be fully transferred to ZeniMax on 1 January 2014.

GOG explained this means they will no longer be able to sell the Fallout games through their service, but those who have linked the games to their account will forever have access.

The GOG.com Winter Promo is offering daily recommended deals from YouTube celebrities, customer’s choice daily bundles, and daily mystery gifts. There are over 600 DRM-free games at 50% off or more for the duration, which ends on 29 December, 13:59 GMT.

GoG servers are taking strain, timeouts a plenty. Good to see such great demand for these classic games.
