Bioshock’s original concept pitch revealed

21 May 2010

Irrational Games has revealed the original concept pitch documents for Bioshock.

The concept they had differs pretty significantly from the final product, which made a massive splash back in 2007.

There is mention of a “seaseed monster” (LOL), called “Man of War”. Did this evolve to become the Big Daddy? There is also talk of nanite controlled weapons and modifications.

Interestingly, this idea never made it to the final product:  “BioShock allows players to face each other in Story Based Deathmatch.”

In the original concept pitch, players were going to take on the role of a man named Carlos Cuello, tasked with rescuing a wealthy heiress from an island of cultists.
