The latest CoD: Black Ops rumour doing the round suggests that the game may contain a mission which allows players to re-enact the assassination of the 35th American president, John F. Kennedy.
Some detective work performed over at VideoGamesZone has uncovered a brief 2 frame sequence in the trailer depicting what looks like a sniper rifle, and a name underneath it.
The name is what’s most interesting: Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald is recognized by the US government for assassinating JFK in 1963.
Also interesting, is that another clip just a few frames after this sequence shows a document dated 1961.
These discoveries have led to speculation that players will be in some way involved with the famous assassination, about which numerous conspiracy theories have been suggested.
The entire affair remains a contentious subject in the US, and we all know how Activision loves contentious issues. Could a mission where players have to assassinate JFK be the next “No Russian” (famous mission on Modern Warfare 2 which has players massacre hundreds of innocents in an airport)?
