Dead Rising 2 delayed

29 June 2010

Capcom has announced a short delay to the scheduled release of Dead Rising 2, pushing it back about a month from the original August 31 release date. Gamers can now expect to be dismembering zombies on September 28 in North America, and on October 1 in Europe. The game is set to appear on Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

It is unclear whether this will have any impact on the release of the Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable title ‘Case Zero,’ which is rumoured to be released on July 8. Case Zero will feature protagonist Chuck Green, and takes place sometime during the five year gap between Dead Rising 1 and 2.

Dead Rising 2 is set in the gambling paradise of Fortune City (which is modelled to resemble Las Vegas), and introduces a new main protagonist, motocross champion Chuck Greene, whom is out to do whatever it takes to protect his daughter from the zombie parasite plaguing humanity.

Dead Rising 2 features gameplay similar to its predecessor, but boasts up to 6000 zombies on screen at any moment, and plenty of new weapons, many of which can be constructed from parts gathered throughout the game world.

Players will once again be struggling against the clock as they try to last 72 hours in the zombie infested casino wasteland. Dead Rising 2 also introduces a cooperative mode in which two players can battle through the campaign together.

A multiplayer mode is also on the cards, pitting up to four players against each other in ‘Terror is Reality,’ and in-game gameshow where the object is to rack up the most kills while romping through an arena full of zombies.
