Razer Cortex wants to take over your gaming PC

27 August 2014

Razer, which is more known for its mice, keyboards, and PC hardware, has launched a new software platform it hopes will become the centre of your PC gaming experience.

Called Razer Cortex, the free service is in its early access period at the moment, and is scheduled to launch in September 2014.

What can you do with Cortex, you ask? A few things, such as:

  • Manage your save games;
  • Launch games from the platform;
  • Share content online through Facebook and YouTube;
  • Record video without watermarks or time, resolution, and frame rate restrictions;
  • Deal finder – which tracks prices of digital PC games across multiple sales platforms, such as Steam, Amazon, GOG, Green Man Gaming, etc, and shows you who has the cheapest price;
  • Game booster optimisation.

The deal finder is arguably the handiest feature of the lot, although this might spell the end for MyGaming’s best gaming deals article.

The game booster function helps to ensure games are running well by streamlining the game’s settings – this includes calibrating visual settings to suit your hardware, tracking drivers and updates, and defragmenting your hard drive.

For those of you interested in the service, you can sign up here.
