Call of Duty is not known for its friendly and welcoming online environment.
In fact, most comments on MyGaming about Call of Duty players refers to them as angry teenagers who enjoy swearing at people and making fun of their mothers.
It seems that mockery is not enough for the kids these days, with online COD: Advanced Warfare players now taking part in “reverse boosting” to ensure they dominate the battlefield.
In essence, reverse boosting is when players deliberately kill themselves – which lowers their own stats – so when skill-based matchmaking takes place they are placed in lobbies with players who they will ultimately dominate.
“We have a low tolerance approach to people who ruin the experience for others through cheating, boosting, reverse boosting or being caught with toxic emblems in game,” said Advanced Warfare dev, Sledgehammer Games.
Reverse boosting also results in team mates being penalised during team-based matches.
Sledgehammer employee Michael Condrey was even a victim of this tactic.
“Playing at home, I’ve been randomly matched with players doing this and it’s incredibly frustrating to lose based largely on my team being down a contributing teammate,” he said.
“No one wants to lose an objective based match by effectively being outnumbered while their teammate shoots grenades into their own forehead 100 times in the corner.”
Call of Duty players: why?
You will find insults and exceptionally rancid profanity on most online FPS games. The games are fast paced and violent so the players are bound to be at the edge of their Wake up and Kick Ass human settings.
In BF4 you will find less of it probably due to the game price and required system spec putting the players *probably* in a more adult group.
BF3 is cheap as chips, does not need a whopper to run and is a perfect option for a gamer on a budget (or an immature child thinking its the coolest thing ever to swear and insult other people’s mother between every second spawn.
I just love the world, culture and differences of gamers.
Keep on insulting!
