Ever wanted to go online with friends and strangers, and play a game which re-enacts various chapters from the Bible? Me neither. BUT NOW YOU CAN!
The Bible Online is a fully interactive browser-based MMO that will tell the story of human social evolution, according to the Bible.
Players will start out by creating a character, and choosing a region. Early quests will be based around early verses from the bible. For instance, a quest called “Days of Cultivation” will make reference to Genesis 3:19
“By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Quest objectives in such instances will include things like gather X amount of food, or build so many store houses. Resources will be important, and The Bible Online looks cast from the Age of Empires mould. Resources will include wood, clay, grain and minerals. Players will have to construct buildings, and train troops, which can be upgraded, and it will be possible to explore different lands using an overview map.
A hero system will be included, which will feature levelling up and skill training, and the first chapter of the game will see players moving from Haran through to settle in Canaan. Rumours regarding a David character who does +150% damage to giants remain unconfirmed.
It’s an interesting concept, and probably not as controversial as it may seem to some.
The Bible Online is due to go live on September 6, and is currently taking beta testers right now.
