ATI’s next generation GPU codenames possibly leaked

27 August 2010

The latest ATI Catalyst driver set has been dissected by some industrious nerds, and they have come up with some juicy info.

Either the ATI HR department is planning a nice holiday for the staff, or the next ATI GPU refresh will be named after a set of Caribbean islands. The names ‘Antilles’ and ‘Caymen’ have cropped up, prompting speculation that these will be the names of the new flagship chipsets from AMD ATI – the HD 6000 series.

MyGaming had previously reported that the next series of AMD ATI GPU’s would not make a significant leap in terms of technology, and would merely be a refinement of the current generation of HD 5000 series chips.

MyGaming also reported that a mole has leaked info regarding the shipment date of the HD 6000 range. Consumers can expect these cards before the end of 2010 (just in time for Christmas we bet).
