You’ve seen Star Wars: Battlefront’s reveal trailer, right? You haven’t? What sort of nerd are you? Fortunately for you, we believe that there’s no better way to start the week than a good dose of blaster fire, numerous explosions and an impressive, albeit brief, Sith Lord reveal.
After announcing that Star Wars: Battlefront would finally be shown off at a Star Wars celebration event this past Friday, everyone was set atwitter. Of course we were excited, but what if DICE screws this up. Battlefront is too important a dream to have it fail. Good news fellow nerds, it looks and sounds great so far – graphically at least.
The in-engine display of Star Wars: Battlefront was, once again, a cinematic display. There was no actual gameplay to speak of, and little to establish an expectation. We were told a few things by the EA panel, but you should watch the trailer first.
It looks great, amazing even – too good to be true. There was little doubt that the Frostbite 3 engine could achieve fantastic visuals, but this goes above and beyond the call of duty. So what about class types, vehicles, gadgets, weapons and maps? Well we don’t know to be honest. Some sites were given the privilege of seeing Battlefront in action, take PC Gamer for example, and yet they stumble on the specifics. What we do know, however, is that Battlefront will focus on planetary warfare and not space combat. We also know that Battlefront will not use Battlelog, has a max player count of 40 and will allow for both first and third person perspectives. The Third person perspective is undoubtedly to make better use of vehicles and hero-like characters, like Vadar.
Beyond the mechanics of the game, anyone who owns Star Wars: Battlefront will be granted a free DLC expansion in the form of ‘The Battle of Jakku’. For those who don’t know, Jakku is the planet the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer opens onto, the desert planet. And we, the players, will be the reason the Star Destroyer is buried in the desert.
The pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Other than that, pre-ordering the game will score you The Battle of Jakku one week earlier and the game releases on November 17th for Xbox One, PC and PS4, but we knew that already.
Looks like battlefield – star wars….
