10 Biggest video game launches to date

Video game sales chart tracker VGChartz has published a list of the 50 biggest game launches to date. This list looks at week-1 game sales on every game released, including multiple consoles as well as PC games.

Update 

VGChartz does not include digital sales, which means that PC game sales will be significantly underreported.

Here are the ten biggest video game launches to date, visit VGChartz for the top 50.

The chart shows that the Xbox 360 still has the most responsive gaming audience, with the top 5 being dominated by Microsoft’s console. Just one PC game makes the top 50, although World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Liche King is mysteriously absent, possibly because it is not a full game. 

5 games in the list were released in 2010, compared to 9 of the featured titles being released last year. There are still a number of massive titles coming this year, so we might just see an improvement on this number. Either way, 14 out of the top 50 games were released in the last 20 months, which indicates that the industry is healthier than ever.
