There are a number of draw cards that get gamers to rAge every year. There is the NAG LAN, which is the biggest LAN in Africa, and 2080 gamers will be attending rAge specifically for this purpose this year. Then there are the hardware specials; it is not uncommon to pick up graphics cards, harddrives, headsets and other assorted goodies for reduced promotional prices.
Then, there are the games. Whilst the actual games may come in third after the above mentioned motivators, they are in fact the primary motivator for attendees at similar international events, such as E3 and Gamescom. This is a component of rAge which in the last few years really has taken some encouraging leaps forward. Last year, ordinary gamers got hands on time with Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Asassin’s Creed II, and many others which went on to be some of the most memorable titles of 2009.
This year is also looking great, and we have received official confirmation that the following games will be playable by all attendees at this year’s rAge, which kicks off tomorrow at 10AM.
Gran Turismo 5

Be sure not to miss out on what is probably the most highly anticipated racing game of all time. GT5 was announced back in 2006, and is finally due for release in Early November 2010. It will be playable to the public for the first time in South Africa at rAge this weekend.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Like Assassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood will be playable to the public for the first time in South Africa at rAge. Fans of the series should head on over to the Megarom stand for a taste of things to come in Ubisoft’s upcoming third personal adventure.
Guitar Hero 6: Warriors of Rock

The next iteration of Activision’s monster cashcow is almost ready to be milked, and gamers will be able to get hands on experience with Warriors of Rock at the Megarom stand.
F1 2010

It’s rare that an F1 racing game gathers as much hype as F1 2010, so there must be something to it. Not only will it be playable this weekend, but it will become available at retailers across the nation.
Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Due out early next year, Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of the Two World is a crossover fighting game which features popular Capcom chacters go up against the likes of Wolverine, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Captain Amercia.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

EA’s next big release in the Need for Speed franchise, Hot Pursuit, is due out mid-November. Gamers will be able to get in some track time over at the EA stand.
EA SPORTS MMA

Not only will EA’s mixed martial arts fighting game, MMA, be playable, but to promote the game, the publisher has arranged actual cage fighting at the event.
Medal of Honor

Many dedicated gamers will have taken part in the Medal of Honor beta, but this is the first time it will be playable for the general public.
Fable III

Microsoft will be pushing its latest Kinect technology, so we can expect heaps of shovel-ware and general pandering to parents and kids. All is not lost however, and gamers will also be able to get some hands on time with the latest iteration of Peter Molyneux’s hit RPG franchise, Fable III.
