Epic mini-games found in Black Ops

9 November 2010

In case you haven’t noticed, Call of Duty: Black Ops is out today, and it’s pretty much the only thing gamers are talking about this morning. One of the more interesting titbits is the discovery of a super nifty hidden mini-game called “Dead Ops”.

A youtube user calling himself WoodyGamertag has posted a clip illustrating the discovery of the mini-game. There is a scene in Black Ops where the player is tied to a chair. By wiggling his Xbox 360 controller knobs, he is able to break free and walk around.

Once free, the player can explore the room. There is a PC in the room that the player can interact with, and if they type DOA into the console, they are treated to Dead Ops – a top down arcade scroller in which they can run around blasting zombies. Players can even collect different weapons, including a flamethrower.

Our own Tarryn van der Byl is already hard at work on the campaign, and she has confirmed that typing Zork into the console enables you to play the classic 70’s text-adventure.
