You could be silently clicking on porn ads in Pokemon GO

15 July 2016

Pokemon GO is currently taking the world by storm, with news that the app has already eclipsed Twitter.

Unfortunately scamsters have also cottoned onto the popularity of the game and the fact that the app is still to release worldwide.

As a result, a new report by ESET has revealed that the first fake lockscreen app on the Google Play Android Store and two scareware apps all posed as Pokemon Go-related apps.

The lockscreen app deliberately locks the screen right after the app is started forcing the user to restart the device.

After reboot, it runs in the background hidden from the victim, silently clicking on porn ads online.

MyGaming recently ran a story warning South African users of the potential dangers of downloading dodgy Pokemon APK. You can read about how to tell if your Pokemon GO is malicious here.
