Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood wins 2011 WGA Award

8 February 2011

The Writers Guild of America has handed out its 2011 award for ‘outstanding achievement in videogame writing during 2010.’

The WGA has often been lambasted for its odd selection of titles. They have explained via Gamesindustry.biz that there are a number of factors for inclusion in their nomination. The explanation is lengthy, but basically, writers need to be members of the Videogame Writers Caucus (US$60 yearly fee), the games need to have credited writers (which many games do not fulfil) and the developers need to take the initiative and submit scripts.

The nominees for the 2011 videogame writing awards were:

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Fallout: New Vegas
God of War III
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Wii)
Singularity
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

And the winner is…

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Story by Patrice Desilets, Jeffrey Yohalem, Corey May.

Lead Script Writer: Jeffrey Yohalem.

Script Writers: Ethan Petty, Nicholas Grimwood, Matt Turner.
