Dragon Age 2 shorter than Dragon Age, bit longer than Mass Effect 2

2 March 2011

Speaking to PlayStation Universe, Bioware executive producer Mike Laidlaw has revealed that the developer’s upcoming fantasy RPG sequel will be shorter than its progenitor, Dragon Age: Origins.

“I’d say it’s a bit longer than Mass Effect but shorter than Origins,” said Laidlaw.

Dragon Age: Origins was a ridiculously long game, with some players reporting over 100 hours of gameplay depending on how many side quests you pursue.

Similarly, how long players take to finish Dragon Age 2 will depend on how much they decide to explore, and how many side quests they complete.

“The game will take longer with side quests. At the same time, you can get through the story quite a bit faster because so much content is off to the side. Mileage will always vary, just take your habits and extrapolate,” said Laidlaw.

Dragon Age 2 is due out on PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on 11 March.
