No copyright holder will be happy to see their work being shared for free on pirate sites but how they respond can make quite a difference, reports Torrentfreak.
That’s why PM Studios, the developers behind the popular PlayStation Vita game Superbeat Xonic, are thanking pirates after a cracked version of their game was widely shared on Reddit.
They even went so far as to offer additional discounts to these pirates so that they can purchase a legitimate copy.
“We feel honored that you enjoy our game SUPERBEAT XONiC so much, we would like to invite you to take this opportunity to purchase it on sale at the PlayStation Store,” they commented on several threads.
“You can enjoy the original game and show support to the team for just $15.99 (60% off), no Playstation Plus required! [link] Have a nice day!”
This prompted the pirates to start a “Thank You” thread catching the eye of several well-known gaming publications.
