Batman: Arkham City gets release date

13 March 2011

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Batman: Arkham City will be released on 21 October in Europe, which means we in South Africa can expect the game shortly thereafter.

The sequel to one of 2009’s sleeper hits will put players into the boots of iconic comic book hero Batman, as he battles his way through the rough streets of Arkham City. The first game had players exploring the confines of Arkham Asylum, while the sequel will take the action to a walled of neighbourhood in Gotham City where the city’s criminals are contained.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was unexpectedly good, and went down in history as the most critically acclaimed game based on a comic series to date. Combining action with exploration against the backdrop of a richly populated and atmospheric environment, Arkham City proved that games based on comics do not need to be shameless cash-cows, and can be good games in their own right.

Arkham City will be released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
