Microsoft reveals some big Xbox LIVE numbers

14 March 2011

You know how everybody says Achievements and Gamerscore don’t matter? Yeah, well, the numbers speak for themselves. And the numbers speak for everybody else too. And the numbers say that Achievements and Gamerscore matter.

Luke Plunkett over on Kotaku managed to turn up the following mad stats about Xbox LIVE:

–    Since the Xbox 360’s launch in 2005, gamers have unlocked 6.3 billion Achievements.
–    The average Gamerscore is 11,286.
–    The total Gamerscore tallied to date (or, at least, at the original time of publication) stands at 176,802,201,383.
–    Around 20 million people log into Xbox LIVE every day.
–    Since the Xbox LIVE service started up in 2002, players have clocked over 4 billion hours of multiplayer game time.

Hey, my Gamerscore is almost five times the average. That totally makes me five times sadder awesomer.

Now you guys can argue about Achievements versus Trophies, and why one is obviously so much better than the other. Go!
