The notoriously nefarious and deviously dispersed anonymous hacktivists have issued a warning to Sony regarding their continued legal pursuit of PS3 security key hackers.
Birthed in the seediest of internet hangouts, Anonymous has evolved into an international hacking movement; standing up for whatever they feel is presently worth their time. Operating under the Anonymous banner, hackers made headlines recently in attacks related to the prosecution of WikiLeaks Julian Assange.
Of course, due to the nature of the anonymous movement, and especially when considering its roots, it is difficult to ascertain whether any messages proclaiming to be from the Anonymous hacking group are the real deal, or just yet another attempt at ‘trolling’ the world.
Either way, Sony appears to have raised the ire of at least one person with rudimentary Photoshop skills, whom has created a threatening image macro. “Congratulations, Sony. You have now received the undivided attention of Anonymous. Your recent legal action against our fellow hackers, GeoHot and Graf_Chokolo, has not only alarmed us, it has been deemed wholly unforgivable.”
The warning continues with references to judicial system abuse, attacks of freedom of information and metaphorical sexual organs inserted in stinging insect nests.

Following a convoluted trail beginning with the IRC channel set up to coordinate hacking operation #opsony one comes across this further explanation of the hacker’s motivations.
“We cannot, and will not allow Sony to censor information. If we purchase something, it is ours; we can do what we like with it. GeoHot specifically jailbroke the PS3 to enable the use of homebrew applications, piracy was not possible with GeoHot’s exploit, not that it would matter anyway. It is the duty of Anonymous to help out this young lad, and to protest against Sony’s censorship. The objective of this operation is to raise awareness of Sony’s injustice. We need media outlets to comment on their actions and why they’re taking place. Remember, prevention is the best cure. If companies can get away with doing this today, imagine what they’ll be able to do in the future. It’s better to be pissed OFF, than pissed ON.”
The above post ends off by declaring that it wasn’t made by a troll. A further image macro is provided to elaborate on motivations of Anonymous.
