Sony is at war – and we don’t mean with LG – that’s been resolved. We’re also not referring to George Hotz. No, the war we’re talking about is between Sony and a group of anonymous individuals who are so anonymous that they even call themselves Anonymous.
Anonymous are a group of internet users who have taken it upon themselves to take the fight to Sony for trying to prosecute George Hotz for releasing the security instructions for the PS3 – an act which has allowed millions of people around the world to run unauthorised software on the console, including pirated games and multiplayer hacks.
Anonymous started by initiating distributed-denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks against numerous Sony websites – a move which prevented PS3 users from accessing various functions of the PlayStation Network for a brief period. Anonymous responded to the inevitable backlash from gamers by promising that future attacks will not interfere with Sony products or services for end-users.
Anonymous then promised that the DDOS attacks were just the beginning, and that things would be getting worse for Sony soon.
Well, according to Ars Technica, Anonymous is making the attack personal by targeting key Sony employees such as Sony Computer Entertainment boss Jack Tretton. These excerpts were lifted and republished from an Anonymous IRC thread:

These people have a record of an order placed on February 11th
by a J. Tretton. That’s all I could get.

posing as Tretton.
Sonyrecon335: Just confirmed the address I have for Tretton with
the previously mentioned Florists – and it matched. We have him

to Tretton’s house under the name Anon Mous
