Sony has confirmed in emails to Asian PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscribers that upgrading to its new PS Plus service will be automatic.
“Your current membership will automatically migrate into an equivalent subscription plan in the new PS Plus service, unless you let it expire before the new service launches,” said Sony.
Sony also confirmed in a post on its PlayStation Blog that its rollout schedule for the service is as follows:
- Asia markets (excluding Japan) – 23 May
- Japan – 1 June
- Americas – 13 June
- Europe – 22 June
The email also confirms that the new PS Plus service will be split into three tiers — PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Deluxe.
Sony also reassured subscribers that the new service’s launch will not change their subscription fees or payment dates unless the subscribers themselves do this.
Those who wish to upgrade to a higher tier PS Plus package must pay the difference between their existing subscription and the new plan.
Additionally, this difference will also be adjusted according to the remaining time of your current subscription.
Sony has not shared any details regarding South African pricing and launch dates yet.
