There won’t be a Skyrim demo

14 July 2011

Bethesda has announced that it will not be releasing a playable demo for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Apparently the game is too big for a demo to do it justice, which kind of makes sense. “For a game of this size and complexity it’s really hard to do a demo that represents the game truly. And it would have to be a gigantic demo. So we won’t be doing a demo,” said Bethesda speaking to Gameplanet.

On one hand, it’s easy to understand why Bethesda does not feel confident about releasing a snippet of a game in which the epic scope is likely to be its main strength. On the other hand, it would have been nice to at least get a feel for it before parting with any cash.

Regardless, Skyrim is due out on 11 November 2011, and will be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Check out this lengthy Skyrim gameplay walkthrough for a taste of what to expect.
