iPhone 4S confirmed by Vodafone Germany website

4 October 2011

Last week we reported that Apple had announced a media briefing to take place later today (4 October 2011), with the tagline “let’s talk phone”.

The obvious conclusion everyone jumped to was that today Apple would finally announce the iPhone 5.

However, Vodafone.de has leaked some information suggesting that the iPhone 4S may be the big announcement, and not an iPhone 5.

Vodafone.de confirms an iPhone bumper (protective casing) that will fit the “iPhone 4S 16GB, iPhone 4S 32GB and iPhone 4S 64GB.”

The bumper fits the current iPhone 4 as well as the iPhone 4S, which suggests that there will be no form-factor changes made with the iPhone 4S.

Of course this doesn’t pass as final confirmation, but it does seem unlikely that that Vodafone Germany’s website has it wrong at this point, and we also doubt that Apple will announced the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 at the same time.

So what can we expect from the iPhone 4S? Rumour has it that the device will look just like an iPhone 4, but will boast a dual-core CPU and some other internal tweaks. It seems that there will not be any 8GB version.

The iPhone 5 is likely to then be announced later next year, and is expected to be a full product update, featuring a larger screen, improved internal specs and various other new features.

Stay tuned for the final announcement, which is due to be made later this evening.
