Original Fallout designer joins Obsidian

13 October 2011

Hold onto your PIP-Boys, game fans – original Fallout designer Tim Cain has teamed up with Fallout: New Vegas dev Obsidian, transforming into the Voltron of the Fallout brand to defend the galaxy from evil!

According to Rock Paper Shotgun’s LinkedIn snoopers, Cain’s signed on as a senior programmer at the company, which is – as it happens – largely comprised of former Black Isle and Interplay employees like Feargus Urquhart, Chri Jones, and Chris Avellone.

The whole Fallout gang is back together.

Obsidian was most recently responsible for the critically-unacclaimed Dungeon Siege III, so here’s to Cain making up for that.

The company is currently working on an adaptation of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series for PC and consoles, although back in June, Urquhart told GamesTM that “we’re going round to publishers right now and we are pitching a new IP, which is getting pretty good reactions from people. We’re hoping to get working on that real soon.”

By extraordinary coincidence, I’m sure, that’s apparently about the same time Cain left his previous employer.
