PlayStation Vita South African release date confirmed

19 October 2011

We all knew the PS Vita was coming in 2012; we even knew that it would be “early 2012”.

But now we know exactly how early.

Playstation Vita will be denting your pocket on 22 February 2012, according to local Playstation distributors, Ster Kinekor.

Ster Kinekor haven’t finalized the local pricing yet, but Sony provided recommended retail prices for the Euro zones and Australia on their EU blog:

The Wi-Fi-only model will start at €249.99 while the Wi-Fi/3G models start at €299.99.

The device will boast some pretty awesome graphics, from what we’ve seen; and will have both physical input for games as well as digital games distribution – but we all know which one of those we’ll be using here in SA.

No official word on the list of launch titles, but according to CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, Jack Tretton:

“We havemore than 100 games currently in development globally that span many different genres, including Sound Shapes, Resistance: Burning Skies, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Capcom’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, EA Sports’ FIFA, Activision’s Call of Duty, and numerous others that you’ll hear about in the months ahead.”

With the international game prices leaving local game pricing still up in the air – we suggest you start saving up now.
