Finnish developer Frozenbyte has revealed that the Steam version of the forthcoming Trine 2 will support cross-platform multiplayer between Mac and PC gamers.
The game is currently in beta, and the beta has now been extended to include Mac owners. Players who have pre-purchased the game can already make use of the cross-platform multiplayer in beta.
The game also supports Stereoscopic 3D via Nvidia 3D Vision, a feature which is now accessible in the two-level PC beta.
“Trine 2 looks stunning with 3D Vision,” Frozenbyte boss Lauri Hyvärinen said. “We knew it was going to be good but it really caught us by a surprise just how great it looks. Trine 2 has been built in full 3D, and while some of this may go unnoticed when the game is played normally, 3D Vision makes it pop out in a way that is just amazing.”
The game will ship with Steamworks when it is released next month, although a DRM free version is planned for release next year.
Trine 2 is also being developed for Xbox Live and PSN.
