In news that’s going to break hearts all over the world, EA has delayed the SSX launch from 14 February to 2 March next year, ruining everybody’s romantic, pretend-snowboarding plans for Valentine’s Day.
In a touching “it’s not you, it’s me” letter to the fans, SSX creative director Todd Batty explains that the game needs a bit more tender lovin’ before it’s released.
“I wanted to let you all know firsthand that we recently decided to take a couple of extra weeks to give our game the final bit of polish we think it deserves. This means that we won’t be shipping the game to you until Feb. 28 in North America and Mar. 2 in the rest of the world. We hope that given how long you have waited for SSX to come back, you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer.”
“Over the course of more than 10 years of making games I have not worked on a single project where our team did not wish, coming down the home stretch, that we could have just a bit more time. Time to do all the little things that may not be noticeable during the first hour or two playing the game, but are appreciated over the course of days, weeks, months and beyond.”
The game was actually originally supposed to launch in January. Maybe the developers are just having trouble letting go.
