Square-Enix trademarks Hitman: Profession

Hitman

Square-Enix are apparently setting themselves up for a big year; they already have Tomb Raider set for a big release later this year (as well as an unannouced new IP from the devs) – but probably even more anticipated, by fans of strategic murder, is Hitman: Absolution – which is expected to drop a bit sooner.

Now, thanks to the keen eyes over at Siliconera, we know that Squeenix have trademarked “Hitman: Profession” – giving sure signs that Absolution isn’t the only bald assassin game we can be expecting to see this year.

The trademark doesn’t say what form we’ll find the title in – but it’s not a far stretch to think it could possibly be a PS Vita title, or something similar. It’s unlikely Squeenix would release two full-size titles on major consoles in one year, so I’m betting on side title or spin-off.

According to further Siliconera reports, the company is focussing on its big IPs across its development studios – and with the Hitman, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex as well as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest brands to work with, it’s not really a surpise that they’ll try and get the most out of it.
